Sequencing Sounds

In order to ANALYSE WORDS the young person needs to be able to identify INITIAL, MEDIAL & FINAL SOUNDS. This requires an understanding of position and space 1st, 2nd, 3rd, next, last, after etc. (see PERCEPTUAL DEVELOPMENT). The young person also needs to hold these sounds in AUDITORY MEMORY and then be able to reproduce them in a SPECIFIC SEQUENTIAL ORDER. When required to spell then this sequence is represented by the correct sequence of letters to form the word.
